This Treat Camera Gave My Cat Trust Issues. My cat, Artemis, is a bustling career woman. She has many jobs that she juggles between stealing my hair ties and spilling her kibble in addition to serving as the Mayor of Fluffingsville, she runs a network of freelancers as Editor in Chief of Catmodo. PpyyTIfULPIoS2sY.large' alt='My Nikon Camera Screen Cracked' title='My Nikon Camera Screen Cracked' />Hi Havoc, I recently buy the V860c to use it on my Canon 1D Mark IV. Before I buy it I send and e mail to the vendor which he replied to me and assured me that it works. Since both of us are busy most of the day at our respective places of work, we forget to check in on each other. Thankfully, Petcubes newest gadget, Petcube Bites, lets humans check in on their furry companions when theyre apart. It also lets us fling treats at them on command which is both heartwarming and mildly horrifying. Pet. Cube Bites. What is it A super smart pet camera that doubles as a treat dispenser. No Like. It traumatized my cat. The Petcube Bites looks like a shrunken down, shinier version of the monolith from 2. A Space Odyssey, the main difference being that the aforementioned totem did not hold up to two pounds of treats. Youll have to load up the device with your pets favorite snacks in order for the magic to happenPetcube recommends treats about an inch big. Since Artemis is but a wee kitty, her treats were a little smaller than the recommended size, which proved to be mostly okay. There was also an unusual aspect to the setup, wherein the Petcube mysteriously didnt work for three days. One day it randomly started workingbut I attribute that to my shitty Wi Fi more than to the Petcube. For those not entirely up on the highend camera scene these days, heres a quick catchup. In an arena that has been dominated by Canon and Nikon since pretty much. When traveling, the best camera can often be the one you happen to have with you, but there are also situations where youll want something more than an iPhone to. If you too have crummy Wi Fi maybe invest in a new router before investing in a treat dispensing pet camera. After downloading the Petcube app, you can link your phone up to the monolith, accessing the devices camera. The Petcube senses motion in front of it, which lets you see what your animals up to but also takes weird videos of your feet if you step in front of it. Seeing your cat or doggos adoring face through the app is definitely heartwarming, but fair warning watch your goddamn feet so weird photos dont end up on some dark corner of the internet. Not that Petcube is going to sell pictures of your feet or anything the images are in the app on your phone, but you can never be too careful these days. While the app saves your videos automatically, the quality isnt great. Dont expect Nat Geo worthy screenshots. In truth, Petcubes app isnt bad, but its also not great. There are some issues with scrolling, making it difficult to see the most recent video of your floof. But the app does let you select the distance at which you can fling the treats, which extends up to six feet in range. After loading the treats into the Petcube, my boyfriend and I selected a short range toss for the treats, which makes sense because I live in a small apartment in New York City. Just load the treats, they said. My Nikon Camera Screen Cracked' title='My Nikon Camera Screen Cracked' />Itll be fun, they said. But oh, dear reader, how wrong I was. The Petcube shot out Artemis treats precariously and with abandon, like a frat boy throwing his drink at a guy who wore the same Vineyard Vines zip up as him. The whole thing was like a cannon of delicious nightmaresneedless to say, my cat was horrified. Make no mistake, she still ate the treatsbut after the incident, she pretty much veered away from the machine. I was able to catch it all on video but filmed it vertically like a jabroni. Im sorry. Overall, Petcube Bites is fine. Despite bad camera quality and an okay app it does what its supposed to do and its kind of cute. Im not sure Id pay 2. Sunday. Artemis couldnt be reached for comment on the ordeal. READMEPetcube Bites is good if you live in a place bigger than mine, which is approximately the size of a hermit crabs shell. Your pet may or may not appreciate it as much as you do. Your pet may never forgive you for this indignation. GODOX V8. 60. C VING ETTL Flash Full Review. Following on from the success of the worlds first Lithium Ion powered speedlight, in the V8. Ving, Godox are leading the way again with the new ETTL version V8. C. The V8. 50 are brilliant inexpensive remote manual flashes, though for around just 5. Godox are really taking value for money to another level again with the full TTL version V8. C. To completely understand the V8. C, it would really help to familiarise yourself with the original V8. Because the V8. 60. C are almost 2 flash systems in one A regular higher end TTL flash along the lines of the Canon 5. EX II, with HSS High Speed Sync, Full Power GN 5. Canon Optic Wirless Master and Slave mode NOT radio master though. And a separate Remote Manual radio flash system carried over from and compatible with the V8. This remote manual radio system uses a separate inexpensive FT 1. FT 1. 6s radio receiver unit, which clip neatly to the side of the flash and do not require any batteries. The FT 1. 6 transmitter are also the same as used with the already very popular Godox Witstro. So when using Godoxs remote manual radio system, the V8. C integrate nicely with the V8. All using the same simple remote power control system. A form of HSS High Speed Sync is also available with this remote manual radio system and the V8. V8. 60. V Witstro, when using an appropriate transmitter unit like the godox Cells II, or other TTL enabled radio transmitter units. Radio Receiver No Built In Radio Transmitter. Please Note The Godox FT 1. FTR 1. 6s remote radio system are not TTL capable. And the V8. 60. C flash unit does not have any form of radio transmitter built in. For TTL use with the V8. C off camera, separate TTL enabled radio triggers from other manufacturers would need to be used at this stage. Otherwise the Canon optic wireless system can also be used with TTL off camera. The optic wireless is more limited towards line of sight, and indoors or avoiding bright light. So the V8. 60. C are more like a Canon 5. EX II but with a bonus clip on remote manual radio system, than Canon 6. EX RT which have full TTL radio transceivers built in. Lithium Ion Battery. Like the V8. 50, hidden inside the V8. C is where the most ground breaking feature lies. The compact VB1. 8 Lithium Ion battery is mounted neatly inside the V8. C, and provides a massive 6. And with full power recycle time of just 1. The compact 1. 1. V 2. 00. 0m. Ah Lithium Ion battery literally replaces 1. AA batteries, and all the hassle of battery management that goes with them. Thats effectively an external battery pack built directly into the flash, without all the extra size, weight, and inconvenience of an extra pack. Godox V8. 60. C Features. Full Power GN 5. ISO 1. Optic Wireless Master Mode does not have ETTL RatiosNote ETTL ratios can still be created by setting FEC directly on slave flashesNo Radio Transmitter Built In, or way to fire V8. Witstro via radio. Currently No External Battery Pack Option. Functions Missing From the V8. Sound Prompt the V8. FT 1. 6 radio remote. The V8. 60. C LCD is not quite as clear and fast for manual power setting and optic slave selection etc. Other Updates from the V8. Overview. The V8. And the Lithium Ion battery was a game changer, particularly for people using a number of speedlites off camera. The huge capacity of the Lithium Ion battery means you simply dont have to worry about batteries anymore, and the time consuming battery management that goes with them. Which really can get pretty ridiculous if using a number of speedlites and AA battery packs. The other impressive qualities of the V8. Canon 6. 00. EX RT. And of course the V8. The V8. 60. C build on the solid base of the V8. TTL function. And for around just 5. V8. 60. C pretty well out front as the best value for money TTL flash in this class. And as a bonus the V8. C can act as a complete substitute for the V8. V8. 50, and even the Godox Witstro flashes. The V8. 60. C were not designed to be all things to all people though, as they do not have any radio transmitter system built in at this stage like the latest Canon 6. EX RT for example. This means to use ETTL off camera via radio, other manufacturers external TTL radio triggers are required. And also to fire V8. V8. 60. C Witstro, off camera, with a V8. C flash mounted on the camera hotshoe, again combinations of other manufacturers radio triggers may be required to enable this particularly if you are interested in HSS off camera. For what the V8. 60. C were created for though an alternative to flashes like the Canon 5. EX II, and Yong. Nuo YN 5. EX II etc, the V8. C are another standout in their class. V8. 60. C Kit. Like the V8. V8. 60. C are available as a kit, with Lithium Ion battery and charge included. And again this just highlights the value in this flash, because for the same price of comparable flashes like the YN 5. EX II etc, you also get a battery equivalent to 1. AA rechargeable batteries 3. A good 8 Cell AA charger costs 7. Thats 1. 00 there already, and not to mention the cost of an external AA battery back to put all the batteries in. Interface. Godox received a lot of praise for the super clear and simple user interface of the Witstro, so they clearly tried to bring as much of that goodness to the V8. The V8. 60. C being a full ETTL flash need to fit a lot more information on the LCD screen, and functions to the buttons. Though Godox have once again managed to keep the V8. Cs interface as simple and intuitive as possible. The V8. 60. C LCD screen has a more subdued tone and brightness though. Although I really like the original V8. I can only assume this has been implemented intentionally, possibly so that you dont have the brighter light in your face when working with the flash on camera in dark environments. The V8. 60. C is certainly still a nice looking flash and interface on the camera though The V8. C buttons are large and all have their own functions clearly marked. I didnt originally receive any user manual with the V8. C samples, so I really had no choice but try and work through all the functions via trial and error. And apart from a few settings in the optic wireless master and slave function, which took a little more trial, everything was very obvious and straight forward. Which is impressive for a fully enabled TTL flash, and ahead of many of the alternatives well ahead of some. The LCD interface is clean and simple, though there is no distance scale when using manual power settings.
